I came across a Black Friday deal on Photoshop software and was finally able to start putting ideas together for a one-of-a-kind ESP custom guitar. It's a combination inspired by many ESPs I've owned over the years, so I've been able to visualize this pretty well by now. There's a few details that aren't perfect but it still came out pretty good with my limited mockup skills. I started with a stock Phoenix model with neck-thru construction and modified the upper bout closer to what's on ESP's TE series. I also dropped in an Evertune bridge and added a reversed teardrop headstock to match the flow of the body shape. I'm on the fence about going with 6 or 7 strings. If I go with 7, I will change the headstock because a 3x4 configuration has always looked wonky to me. Scale length is still up in the air but baritone Phoenix is awfully long. Think they'll make a custom case? I'm leaning towards gloss black with black pearloid binding around the whole guitar. The controls and pickguard aren't final but I kinda dig the stock config. The pickup will be a EMG 81 and I'll go with a EMG 60 if I decide to have a neck pickup. The input jack will be recessed and angled upward. As you can see, there's still a number of things to finalize. This was just something to get me started and I'll continue to revise it.

UPDATE: THE GUITAR HAS BEEN SOLD Hey guys! I recently bought this guitar impulsively and as cool as it is, I gotta let it go already. So I'm listing it for sale here first! The price is $1775+shipping (estimated $100-130). NO TAX. Unfortunately, I must insist the buyer is in the USA. Please spread the word! Why am I selling it? Because I got an unexpected opportunity to jump on another special guitar last weekend and my guitar rack has been overflowing for quite some time now. I'm trying to return to a rule of limiting myself to guitars that fit on my rack. This RA-600 will be enjoyed by someone more than me because I'm simply not a Floyd Rose player. Although, with this guitar, I learned to appreciate how accurate and stable tuning is with a Floyd! Although the guitar plays and sounds great, it has some blemishes I want to share: · Small chips at the tip of the headstock · Chip at the back of the headstock · Pickguard has been routed around the pickup to accommodate slightly larger pickup. Also 2 tiny pilot holes for a neck pickup · Small burn mark at the bottom of the pickguard and on the binding at the bottom of the guitar (possibly from a solder iron) · Volume pot cuts out when turning the knob. It still puts out full volume when cranked to 100% Rob Arnold assumes no responsibility for any transaction that results from this posting. It is a private sale between me and the buyer.

https://www.espguitars.com/products?categories=new-for-2023 What do you guys think about the new models/editions ESP revealed today? I'm surprised to see them bring back the black LTD SRC 7-string tele. I know a lot of people want one these days but I didn't expect ESP to bring it out of retirement. Now people don't have to settle for the ugly sparkly green. Some of the LTD's are near $2.5k and E-II over $3.5k 😱 I'm digging this Snow White M-I and happy it's not satin finish 😎

I hope Andols will at least attend the shows commemorating the Anniversary of The Impossibility of Reason, even if he won't be performing. That album was such a turning point for the band and it would be nice to see him with the band to celebrate. Here's some photos I took on May 5, 2003 just before The Impossibility of Reason dropped. The album had already leaked online by the time this show happened. I may or may not have been familiar with the new songs for this show 😑 Other bands on this tour were Eighteen Visions and Atreyu with Lamb of God headlining. This Portland venue was called the Nocturnal and the "stage" was only a few feet tall with no barrier or security. Look how close the band was to the audience! I could have strummed Rob's guitar! Check out Andols hamming it up for the camera just before going on stage! I had the nerve to ask him if I could don the guitar for a photo op and he said "uh...if it were up to me, sure...I don't think Rob would be cool with that, though" 🤣 Jim looking stoned as ever. Sorry about the camera flash in your face during the solo Rob!

New Guitar Day and it's an iconic one I've been wanting for ages! Actually, I've had it for about a month already. It's the only guitar I own that came without locking tuners and today is the day I did something about that 😎 Unlock more photos by guessing which model this is.

I just found out about this new feature on Apple's music streaming platform. It's marketed as a karaoke feature but is also really useful for guitar play-alongs. You can control the volume of vocals on just about any song. While playing a song on your Apple device, tap the lyrics/caption icon and you will see a new volume bar for vocals. It's not perfect since it doesn't completely mute vocals and it does attenuate the music just a little bit. It works on iPhone, iPad, and the new Apple TV 4K. https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2022/12/apple-introduces-apple-music-sing/

Hey everyone, what's up? My name is Sam and I have been a big fan of Chimaira since they debuted on Farmclub during the mp3.com days. However, my true appreciation for Rob's musicianship sprouted when The Impossibility of Reason came out. I'm also a diehard ESP enthusiast/spec nerd, owning 21 of them since around 2001. So you can imagine I was ecstatic when Rob got serious with his YouTube channel. I'm looking forward to meeting and talking to fellow musicians and fans here! If you have a question about ESP, I'm your guy! P.S. I used to be a member of the old chimairaboard forum :D Photo from May 2005 (The Satyricon in Portland, OR)
