I bought the Digipak version of Machine Head's new album "Of Kingdom And Crown" and it's an incredible record! The Digipak includes 2 tracks not on the standard album and one of those is a brutally heavy instrumental called "Exteroception". The production is great (mixed by Colin Richardson and Chris Clansy) and co-produced by Robb Flynn so you know the guitar tone is god like as usual. What is is with guys named Rob/Robb having the best metal tones?! Haha I'm sure many people here are fans of theirs as Rob is ( considering the shirt you're wearing in your Patreon pic) so thought I would share this review in case people haven't heard it yet, not a bad track on it!

What's up! Started the day listening to Kirk's new EP "High Plains Drifter" and I really like it! Although there are a few Metallica-ish melodies and riffs, this record is otherwise quite different and reminds me of the old Shrapnel records days with it's compositions and Eastern vibe at times. This led me to two questions, one just for Rob and one for everyone; Rob: What was your signal chain when tracking the solo for "Frozen in Time"? It's such a unique sound and really sounds frozen! Fits the song perfectly, but I've always wondered if it's played in reverse or what? Reminds me of the last sound Dime makes at the end of the solo for "Regular People (Conceit)". I just think, "How the hell did he get that sound?!" Haha 2. What is your favorite solo record of all time? Too hard? How about a top 5 list, here's mine: 1. Jason Becker- Perpetual Burn 2. Marty Friedman- Dragon's Kiss 3. Buckethead- Cuckoo Clocks of Hell 4. Steve Vai- Passion and Warfare 5. Jason Richardson- I

Hey everyone, I recently installed locking tuners on my PRS SE guitar (they are so sweet and the solid brass posts actually adds sustain, and the whole set is only $100!) and while checking the intonation I realized how much Rob's videos helps make us musician's lives easier. Just the little trick of remembering "If the arrows are pointing right on the tuner (sharp), then the saddle must move in that same direction". Makes it so easy to remember and I dialed it right in. Thanks Rob! Also, I use a tool called "Strecha" and it's a real time and finger saver when it comes to stretching your new strings. Curious if Rob or anyone has tried it and what you guys think, here's the link to buy one from Stewmac: https://www.stewmac.com/luthier-tools-and-supplies/types-of-tools/stringwinders-and-bridge-pin-pullers/string-stretcha/

Hey Rob and fellow patrons! I bought the Positive Grid Spark amp a while back and the tones continue to amaze me for what this thing is! So I decided to have some fun and try to match the tones from "Everything You Love" by ONLY using the Spark's tones. Of course it's not as good as the original, but for a $275 practice amp the size of a toaster I think it's pretty close. I made an edited version of Chimaira's "Everything You Love" as a reference so you can A/B them back to back (hopefully you're not offended that I edited the track Rob! Haha). All guitars (including bass guitar tone) is from the Spark amp and I used Addictive Drums 2 for the drums, and tracked guitars with my ESP LTD Arctic Metal guitar with an EMG 81. Would like to know what you all think, cheers! Mitch \w/

Hey Rob! Such a huge fan, it's pretty crazy that we get to basically message you directly through this. I'm a fairly new Producer/Recording Engineer (graduated with a degree in music in 2016) and have a few questions for you. What brand/model audio monitors do you use? I see them in your background pic but the brand is blurry and I didn't see them listed under the gear that you use. Just curious if you've tried smaller monitors or basically what led you to choose those specifically? Regarding your solo record, are you doing the entire mixdown process yourself or do you work with someone else? Also, will you send it to a mastering house or do you have a way of doing that yourself within Protools, 3rd party mastering plugins, etc.? Thanks for your time! Mitch

In Introduce Yourself!
Hey Rob and fellow patrons! I'm a fairly new Producer/Recording engineer of the past 5 years or so and have been playing guitar for over 20 years. I've been a metalhead since age 14 (although a very picky one, must be QUALITY metal to make the cut. Haha) and have always admired bands that can consistently put out brutally heavy music with good production value, so obviously a MASSIVE fan of Chimaira. After reaping the benefits of Rob's many awesome Youtube vids ( TONS of useful info about gear and maintenance, and learning Chimaira songs have made me a much better guitar player...not to mention SO MUCH FUN!), I thought it was time to say thanks and support Rob as much as possible. ESPECIALLY after hearing the sneak peak of "Assassin"...goddamn that has me beyond excited for the solo record!! I've also become slightly obsessed over your tone Rob, and I'm thrilled to say that I just acquired a 2006 USA made 6505+ head thanks to the help of my best friend and fellow patron Adrian (logan19fs@aol)!! I also ordered the Mesa Boogie 4x12 cabinet and decided to try the Horizon Devices Precision Drive pedal to act as both a boost pedal and gate. And finally thanks to Rob's review of it, I bought an ESP LTD Arctic Metal guitar (tuned to drop C of course) and could not be any happier with it! It's an absolute beast, and the Hipshot bridge provides rock solid tuning and is SUPER easy to chop on! I'll post pics of my rig asap (whenever the cabinet shows up...this shortage things sucks!). For now, here's a pic of my guitar and I'm heading over to the tabs section to learn more brilliant Chimaira riffs!! \w/
