Wow that IS a great experiment using different 81's and woods running through the same plugin...and now that you mention it I bet you could achieve a similar "saturation" using a Les Paul as the variable. I know it wasn't intentional but is still valuable info. It's obvious now that you said it, that you would never track rhythm guitars with a neck pickup but it does bring up something I've always thought was potentially confusing for some guitarists; on a Les Paul for example the neck pickup is called "rhythm" and the bridge is called "Lead". And conversely, the clean channel on our 6505+ heads are called "rhythm" and what we play rhythm on is called "Lead". Hahaha Anyway, it's FUCKING AWESOME to know that a whole package containing stems and backing tracks for "Magnitude" is in the works! That will provide endless analysis and jamming fun! Very cool to hear you mention Morbid Angel as inspiration for the pick scrapes! So many people credit Gojira for that, and they're awesome...but even they say they were HEAVILY influenced by Morbid Angel and you can hear it in many aspects of their sound. "Domination" is the best death metal album ever in my opinion! Cheers Rob!

Yeah I'm seeking more power as well, I was looking more at the studio's after you mentioned them and I really wish Apple would make a line just for music production so we don't have to pay for all of the graphics aspect that most of us will never use. I mean look at the price difference between the Max and Ultra... now obviously for power we would choose the Ultra but so much of that price is due to graphics upgrades. However that may be a good choice for you with all of the videos you shoot. Also not a fan of them replacing USB ports with Thunderbolt, as I use some older gear that is USB only. Oh well, just gonna keep baby-ing my mini for now.

Haha Yeah I had to have Metallica at the center of it all as they were the band that made me pick up my first guitar and start learning their stuff, and of course gotta have the Chimaira art centered above that! I definitely think we'd get along for sure! Haha Have to show you my studio desk too so you can see I sacrificed one of your matchbooks to cover the logo of my video monitor and a good friend of mine just got a 3D printer and printed this cool little Chimaira logo that fits right on my power conditioner. \m/

What's up Rob! Just had to share the great news that after a long wait my Mesa cabinet finally showed up! I'm running a 10-band EQ in the effects loop to further refine the tone and to attenuate the volume because this thing is loud!! The tone...my god the tone! I know you've had this rig forever, but after listening to albums starting with Machine Head's Burn My Eyes back in '94 to your tone on The Impossibility of Reason and beyond I have fantasized about having THAT tone...so to actually have it now is truly a dream realized. By the way I wound up returning the Precision Drive pedal and just went with a Decimator 2 and no boost needed with this monster! The only issue is I have to set a timer to force myself to stop playing so I won't play right to Carpal Tunnel town. haha Finally I have to give a big shout out to my best friend and fellow Patreon member Adrian (logan19fs) for finding this gorgeous 2006 USA 6505+ head for me and personally delivering it from Texas. Haha That's a great point about Metallica's sound missing that element since St. Anger on...I agree completely. Yeah I was referring to 2:58 section in Frozen in Time and I could only tell it was guitar because the second or third note played has a little vibrato to it, otherwise I would have bet it was a Spicuzza sample. And I just listened to the 2:43 section of Secrets Of The Dead and wow they do sound very similar! Never noticed that before. Thanks for all of the awesome info! \m/

Thanks for the fast response Rob! I just checked out those monitors on Sweetwater and they are really nice! Love all of the filters and features they have, and you make a great point about truly learning your monitors...I'm still in the process of that now. Exciting to hear that you are mixing the solo record now! And it does make a lot of sense to get a second set of ears on it, not to mention the dedicated mastering room with all of that sweet but EXPENSIVE gear! I really appreciate all of the info and am brand new to Patreon and kind of forums in general so still getting the hang of it.
